Granite Rocks At Wilsons Prom

Giant Granite Boulders Change Colour In Different Light

If you’ve never been to Wilsons Promontory – you’ve never lived! Well that’s a harsh statement and not at all true, but this National Park is a very special place.

It was just voted number one as the most favourite place to visit in Victoria, Australia, and I completely agree.

The rock features at Tidal River (pictured above) are quite magnifient and change colour at different times of the day. You can see more pictures of them at too.

If bush walking is your thing, then the multitude of tracks here ,encompassing a wide variety of terrains will have you mesmerized for weeks.

I can’t wait to get back there and go for the next hike, and my nine year old daughter enjoys it too. What a great feeling to walk into a new area and just say Wow! Or be startled by a wallaby, kangaroo, emu or wombat on the track. Wilsons Promontory is just one of those places that is on the top of the list for me.

  1. Hello Alex…thanks for dropping by.

According to wikipedia “…The coastline is ruggedly beautiful with indented coves and beaches interspersed amongst granite headlands…”

And The Age Traveller says, “…’The Prom’ is comprised of granite which has weathered in places to form the large and interesting rocky outcrops which are sprinkled about the park…”

    All the best,
