Last week I had an opportunity for a quick chat with veteran actor Bud Tingwell, who’s been hanging around the local South Gippsland area during the filming of the ABC’s Bed Of Roses (Series 2).
Bud displayed an incredible friendliness and amazing wisdom and easily told stories of life, the war and his acting career. He happily posed for photographs with adoring fans and even ones too young to remember him in ‘Homicide’ by Crawford Productions or even ‘The Castle’, but his stamina astounded me most of all.
One day, when filming in intermittent rain and repeated shooting of the same scene, Bud was required to stand as his character in Bed Of Roses for an incredibly long time. His 80+ years of acting experience showed as he stood with the crowd and played his part. One has to marvel at his endurance and professional attitude.
